Learn the ins and outs of the music business and how it works, (Read “All You Need To Know About The Music Business” by Donald Passman), Work hard at your chosen instrument. Practice when ever you can. Get lessons. Play with as many different people as possible.  Avoid drugs and alcohol and don’t play with people who use them, they will waste your time. Be on time for auditions, rehearsals and shows. Be professional. Don’t be a drunk or play high. Make playing your instrument your number one passion.  Find a good manager.  Have every contract presented to you checked by a music attorney you completely trust.  Learn as many different styles of music as you can.

15.  What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it by?

“It’s not what you put in, it’s what you leave out” Ritchie Blackmore.
